FD71: changing the clock battery

GUIDE · Date & clock battery

The FD71 has a user-accessible clock-battery compartment.

Applies to: MVC-FD71

Before starting

Coin-cell safety: use the specified type, keep cells away from children and follow the complete manufacturer warnings.

Use the FD71 instructions

Sony names a CR2025 or Duracell DL-2025 cell, with the positive side facing out. Read the illustrated procedure on page 33-EN. It says to leave the main battery pack attached while changing this cell to retain the date and time.

Do not copy this to other models

This compartment and cell type belong to the FD71. The FD97 and FD100/FD200 instead have built-in rechargeable clock batteries.

Battery precautions

Use only the specified replacement type. Do not recharge, dismantle or put this cell in a fire. Keep coin cells away from children and dispose of them through an appropriate battery collection point.
