FD71: drive, display and exploded-view references

GUIDE · Disassembly & parts

The saved FD71 service manual uses sections, not Level 1 / 2 / 3 labels.

Applies to: MVC-FD71

Before starting

The flash capacitor can retain a dangerous charge after switch-off, even with the main battery removed. Read the model-specific service safety notes before opening the camera. Internal electrical work requires suitable training and equipment.

Use the correct base manual

The saved edition is version 1.3, September 2000, with Supplement 1. The cover does not label it as Level 1, 2 or 3. A later model's differences manual is not a substitute for this base.

Find the section

The contents list the lens block under section 2-3, the FDD block under 2-5, and the PK-43 board and LCD under 2-6. Exploded views are in section 6-1. Read the full disassembly chapter before removing an assembly.
