Power, disk insertion and recording-mode checks from the handbook.

Before startingNo disassembly is needed for these checks.
Check power first
Check the InfoLITHIUM battery, its charge, disk insertion and the AC adapter connection. The handbook also suggests switching off for a minute before trying again.
Check recording settings
Set the PLAY/STILL/MOVIE selector to STILL or MOVIE. Check that the chosen disk or Memory Stick is inserted and is not write-protected.
If it still fails
Write down the full error code and what the camera was doing when it appeared. Check the code reference for this model. If the handbook checks do not clear it, seek repair advice before opening the body.
