Sony Mavica FD-100

The MVC-FD100 records onto 3.5-inch 2HD floppy disks or Memory Stick. It shares an operating manual with the FD200, but the two models have different still-image resolutions.

This summary was checked against the Sony MVC-FD100/FD200 operating instructions. The earlier draft mixed FD100 and FD200 specifications and showed an FD200 photograph. Those entries have been removed.

Image sizes

For the FD100, the largest still size is 1280 × 960. On floppy disk, the listed settings are 1280 × 960, 1280 (3:2), 1024 × 768 and 640 × 480. Memory Stick uses the corresponding 1280 (FINE), 1280 (3:2) F, 1024 (FINE) and 640 (FINE) settings.

The 1600 × 1200 setting belongs to the FD200, not the FD100.

• Sensor: 6.64 mm (1/2.7 type) colour CCD; approximately 1,228,000 effective pixels for the FD100.
• Lens: 3× optical zoom, 6.4–19.2 mm (41–123 mm equivalent on a 35 mm still camera), F3.8–3.9.
• Recording media: 3.5-inch 2HD MS-DOS floppy disk (1.44 MB) and Memory Stick.
• Battery: NP-F330 supplied; NP-F550 listed as optional.
• Connections: USB mini-B and VIDEO OUT minijack.
